Are you struggling with or scared of maths?

Then I can help.  I understand how maths can sometimes feel daunting.  Perhaps you find some topics hard to understand, or struggle to concentrate or get enough individual attention from the teacher in class.  Maybe you're worried that you're starting to fall behind.  A specialist maths tutor can then really help.  By identifying your individual difficulties and providing corrective guidance and support, I can help relieve your maths anxiety,  build your confidence and improve your understanding.  Your grades will start to improve as a result, and soon you'll be able to achieve more and more.

Meeting your individual needs: my tutoring approach

Every student is different.  Past maths learning and experience, present interests, concerns and learning needs and future learning goals are all individual.  Accordingly, I put meeting each student's particular needs at the heart of my teaching.  This requires careful and continuous assessment of current understanding and the use of effective teaching techniques to deepen and extend this, build confidence and motivation for continued development and foster independent learning and evaluation skills.  Read more here about specific teaching practices I value and employ, for the benefit of my students.

Are you doing fine but under pressure to get top grades?

Many students who are good at maths feel under great pressure to achieve the very highest grades.  This might be at GCSE so that you can go on to study A-level.  Or maybe you're an A-level student striving to get the A* / As you need to get into a top university, or an undergraduate looking for that First.  A specialist maths tutor is then very helpful.  I can stretch you and deepen your understanding with challenging questions and extension material, support you in specific areas, e.g. with certain A-level further maths modules, and help you develop higher thinking and learning skills.

Here to help you: my qualifications and experience

There are lots of maths tutors out there.  Many are good.  Many are not.  How do you choose?  I have bachelors and masters degrees in mathematics from the University of Cambridge, and a full teaching qualification from the University of London.  I therefore offer the combination, needed by any good tutor, of indepth knowledge and understanding of my subject and the ability and passion to teach others.  I have extensive tutoring experience too, having worked as a full-time tutor since 2008.  Read more here about my qualifications and experience, and view recent testimonials from students and parents.

Jeremy was an excellent tutor who from the very beginning gave my daughter stimulating and enjoyable lessons. She thrived under his guidance and in her own words would say we couldn’t have found a better tutor.

Thank you Jeremy for your consistent hard work and professionalism whilst tutoring my son. You enabled him to work independently whilst challenging him. The lessons were always well structured and yet you were totally flexible with the content depending on his needs at the time.

As a result of Jeremy's help our daughter's understanding and confidence in her ability improved immeasurably, and she ceased to be afraid of maths.  I have already recommended Jeremy to other parents and will continue to do so as we were so delighted with our daughters progress.

Jeremy was the best maths tutor! He was reliable and patient and motivating. With his help I got an A* in my Maths A Level!
